Scott Kamena for Assembly District 15
Dr. Scott Kamena has a life-long commitment to Livermore, the largest community in the 15th Assembly District. It is the community where he was born and raised. He is now raising his own family there.
After earning his undergraduate and doctorate degrees from UC Berkeley, Scott returned to Livermore to join his father in operating his Optometry practice. Murrieta Optometry has served more than 20,000 people in the Livermore area.
In managing this business, Scott has personally experienced the struggle small businesses face in California everyday. With a staff of 12, Scott has had to deal with the problems that face many entrepreneurs such as workers’ compensation costs, medical insurance hikes, and land use issues.
As a twice-elected Director of the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District, Scott is a proven elected official serving the community. His father, Dr. Marshall Kamena, is currently serving his fourth term as Mayor of Livermore.
Scott’s wife, Jennifer, is a former Alameda County Deputy District Attorney who is now raising their young daughter Audrey.
Scott’s mother taught Spanish and his practice does charity work for poor English- and Spanish-speaking populations. These opportunities allowed him to develop fluency in Spanish that will help him deliver his pro-business, pro-family, anti-tax message to large populations of the state that currently hear only the counter to these common sense ideas.
As a candidate for the State Assembly, Scott is the candidate best positioned to tackle the tough issues in Sacramento.
· As a health care professional, Dr. Kamena is uniquely qualified to deal with the most daunting issue currently facing state policy: health care.
· As a businessman, he understands exactly what issues need to be addressed to allow businesses to get out from under the over-regulation of state government.
· As the father of a young child who will attend the same public schools he did, Scott is committed to a strong education system that will foster self-sufficiency and responsibility.
When elected to State Assembly, Scott will work hard to reduce healthcare costs, stop state government from over-regulating businesses, advocate for meaningful tort reform and advocate for a strong education system that will foster self-sufficiency and responsibility.
