Rev. 1/23/2025 - The California GOP hosts TWO Conventions per year (Spring and Fall) on odd years and ONE Convention (March/April) on even years.

The Convention runs from Friday noon to Sunday noon and votes as a whole on Sunday morning.

For the Spring Convention (either in Sacramento or the Bay Area).

If Sacramento, [[as it is in 2025 March 14-16]]

• 2025 LOCATION: Hyatt Regency Sacramento 1209 L Street
• Some years held at the Sacramento Convention Center, north of the East side Capitol Gardens. 
• Best day-long Parking Garage is directly across the street north of the Capitol Building itself.
• Walk north from the garage to the East-West Trolley line and then about four blocks East to the Convention Center main doors
• The CA GOP Headquarters Building (1001 K Street, on fourth floor) is two blocks north of this same Garage.
• During long breaks, stroll the East side Capitol Gardens and its many memorial installations.

If Bay Area,

• Held on the Peninsula near the SF Airport

For the Fall Convention (either in Anaheim or San Diego).

IF DRIVING THE LONG I-5 STRETCH:

• I-5 going north - Best Gas Stop by far with a posse full of clean fast-food restaurants (and restrooms) and multiple gas brands is Kettleman.
• I-5 going south - a suitable Gas Stop is at Santa Nella.  Further down the road, Kettleman is hidden downslope on the east side of freeway and very easy to zip by unawares going south.  

If San Diego,

• Wear a warm coat (You have been warned.)
• Add a vacation day (or three) to visit Balboa Park museums, the San Diego Zoo, and the Maritime Museum of restored ships

If Anaheim (usually Anaheim Marriot Hotel), 

• See the vital location map below on a DESKTOP PC.
• Hotels only 10 minutes north of Anaheim (e.g. in Placentia) have lower room costs.

PARKING:

• Take Katella Exit West to Harbor Blvd stoplight.  Turn left (south) to stoplight at Convention Way.  Turn right (West) into that cul-de-sac.  Go around the small traffic circle to get to the Marriott, continue past the Lobby into an alleyway to the Parking Garage (entered from the north).
• The multi-story Parking Garage at hotel costs $22/day (in 2023) with NO in-and-out privileges.  Price is well worth the security and extreme convenience to exhibit hall.
• The Exhibit Space in the Hotel is on the ground floor immediately off the Parking Garage.  VERY handy!

WALKING ABOUT:

• The Convention Center is across an open courtyard from the Hotel.   Food trucks line that courtyard (Grand Plaza) serving attendees at events at the Convention Center and welcome Hotel guests lunching under the shade trees.
• The Hotel has at least two restaurants on the first floor and at hotels walking towards Disneyland have some nice restaurants streetside.
• Walk due north from Hotel (during a brain break) along Harbor Blvd to Disneyland (park-like landscaping) and hole-in-the-wall food joints.
